LEGAL EXPERIENCE

Van is a general practitioner in both criminal and civil litigation areas.  She has been instructed to defend and prosecute cases in all tribunals and courts, from the Labour Tribunal, Magistrates' Courts and the District Court to the High Court, the Court of Appeal and the Court of Final Appeal. 

In the criminal area, Van acts for both prosecution and defence.  Van's practice covers sexual offences; all assault-related offences, including homicide; complex commercial-related and white-collar frauds; and other crimes, including dangerous drug offences, road traffic offences such as dangerous driving causing death, dangerous goods and explosive substances offences, ICAC offences, blackmail and departmental summons. 

Van's civil practice focuses on family law, contract and commercial disputes, shareholders and property/land disputes, injunction, defamation, trust and mortgagee actions, coroners' inquest and personal injuries (including fatal cases). 

Van has contracted with LexisNexis as an author for a full annotation of the Dangerous Goods Ordinance (Cap 295). 

Since 2019, Van has taught Contract Law for the CPE MMU course at HKU SPACE.  In recent years, Van has also acted as an assessor and demonstrator for PCLL at City University.



OTHER WORK EXPERIENCE

Between 1997 and 2012, Van worked in the commercial sector by joining several multinational companies.  She was appointed to different senior and regional positions, ranging from Regional General Manager to Chief Operations Officer to Director.
