Founded in 1990 by our current Head of Chambers, Charlotte Draycott SC and Michael Poll, Central Chambers is now home to 2 Silks and 26 barristers who practise both Criminal and Civil law. 

Chambers is located at Room 418, Tower 2, Lippo Centre, 89 Queensway, directly opposite the High Court of Hong Kong.

Founded in 1990 by Charlotte Draycott SC and Michael Poll, we have offered our professional services to the legal industry in Hong Kong for the past three decades. 


Over the years Central Chambers has been home to various distinguished and well respected barristers, including those who have moved on to become Judges. Our Head of Chambers has the distinction of being the the first European woman Senior Counsel and remains the only female criminal Silk in Hong Kong. Ms. Draycott is also a Master of the Bench at the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple. 


Originally situated in Bank of America Tower, our Chambers moved to Lippo Centre in 2005. We are now conveniently situated opposite the High Court, where our offices provide a professional, discreet but friendly setting to receive our clients.


Central Chambers prides itself on providing high quality advice and advocacy in both civil and criminal law that is practical and accessible. Our accomplished set of barristers include both those locally trained and members qualified overseas. They bring wide ranging expertise to a variety of legal issues and follow a long tradition of quality service. Each advocate is experienced in their respective practice areas and has the ability to call on the accumulated knowledge of the whole chambers. Our clients have confidence knowing their cases are being handled by experienced, forward looking and results oriented counsel.


In criminal litigation, we accept instructions from a wide range of professional clients including defence solicitors, prosecuting authorities and foreign governments. We have a strong team of advocates who operate effectively at all levels of the criminal courts in cases involving all types of crime. We understand that a quick response is often necessary and members are available to attend at Police Stations, the offices of the ICAC and the SFC to give advice at the earliest stage. Our Counsel are also experienced in proceedings such as insider-dealing and other aspects of market misconduct, financial services regulation.


In civil litigation, Chambers has counsel with expertise in a wide range of civil matters, including disputes involving contract and commercial law; shareholder, partnership and company law disputes; personal and corporate insolvency; trusts, probate and charity matters; matrimonial law; professional negligence; injunctions, tracing and other equitable remedies. Our members are accessible for all stages of civil litigation. From pre-action advice on merits, to interlocutory applications and trials, to handling civil appeals.
